Thierry Devimeux, the new Prefect of Guadeloupe, was appointed on Thursday July 31 and will take up his new post on September 1. He succeeds Xavier Lefort, who has been appointed President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Chamber of Accounts.
The decision was made official by decree following the Council of Ministers meeting on July 30. Thierry Devimeux (2001 Ingénieur) officially becomes Prefect of Guadeloupe. Until now, he held the position of Prefect of the Drôme. In addition to his varied experience in the prefectural corps, as an agricultural engineer as well as a civil engineer, he began his career in agricultural and rural development.
During his career, he has acquired a wealth of experience in the French overseas territories: in 2018, he was appointed prefect of the territorial collectivity of Saint Pierre-et-Miquelon. In 2011, he worked as Secretary General for Regional Affairs for the Prefect of La Réunion. In 2007, he was appointed General Secretary of the Prefecture of French Guiana.
