3D printing in concrete building construction has yet to be deployed on a large scale. For the time being, it is finding its way into niche applications, such as the production of elements with complex geometries. However, this is not a foregone conclusion, and some players are looking to extend its use. This is the case for Spie Batignolles, which has chosen to collaborate with start-up Xtree in order to experiment with additive manufacturing on common concrete elements that can be duplicated and incorporated into structures.

The objectives of this industrialization are manifold: to save on formwork which becomes waste, to eliminate a time-consuming and arduous task for site workers when making reservation boxes for technical networks, for example, and to produce complex custom-made parts for architectural columns or footbridges...

We invite you to come and discover this technique , which resolutely embodies the transformation of our businesses, to see the Ernest robot in action, named after Ernest Goüin, the founder of the Société de Construction des Batignolles in 1871, and to visit the site opened by Spie Batignolles in the Lyon region in 2023, in the company of Caroline Gauvin (MAS 1999), Spie Batignolles Infrastructures Branch Development Director.
