"The city of tomorrow
Almost 80% of the population of France, and of the world, live in urban areas. Due to their density and high resource consumption, cities are particularly vulnerable to the impact of climate change, such as heat waves and floods, the frequency and intensity of which are increasing with global warming. At the same time, cities face increasing pressure on resources such as water, soil, clean air, food and energy supplies, accentuated by rapid urbanization and ecosystem degradation.
Faced with these challenges, it is urgent to rethink the city of tomorrow in terms of resilience, so that it can not only mitigate the impacts of climate change, but also adapt to future developments. This is not just a question of technical adaptation to environmental crises, but also of integrating the social and economic issues associated with these upheavals, in order to reduce inequalities, improve inclusion and meet the day-to-day needs of every citizen.
Numerous initiatives are being explored to meet these challenges, including the demineralization and greening of urban spaces, the creation of sponge cities to manage rainwater and restore soil, the design of better insulated buildings, the development of citizen energy loops, the overhaul of mobility infrastructures, and urban agriculture.
Are these approaches up to the challenge?
What kind of governance should be involved? How can we best combine public and private efforts? How can we monitor the progress made by our cities?
Aren't actions to make cities more resilient a lever for making them more welcoming, by improving the living environment, reducing inequalities and strengthening social ties?
This "Mardi des Agros" will attempt to answer these questions by combining the views of speakers from the public and private sectors:
- Pascal BERTEAUD, Managing Director, CEREMA
- Fabrice BONNIFET, President of C3D and GenAct
- Christine AUBRY (PG 76, PG Dr 95), Director of the Chaire partenariale Agricultures Urbaines, Consulting Professor AgroParisTech
- Jean-Marc Philip (PG 93), founder and president @ECOVISO, will moderate the debate. He is also co-organizer of this event with Martin de Lépinau (APT 17), co-founder @NEOTERA.
