Description

Le Berlier, designed by EMERIGE, will be built in two parts, one 15 storeys high and the other 7 storeys high, within the ZAC Paris Rive Gauche development zone.

The building will offer 77 housing units for first-time buyers (approx. 5,630 sq. m. net floor area) on a cultural base comprising a museum, an art gallery (approx. 800 sq. m. net floor area), a restaurant and various shops (approx. 170 sq. m. net floor area), together with a two-storey underground parking lot.

The design of the 50 m wooden tower was born of a deep understanding of the site, and its designation as a new residential center at the southeast end of Paris. At the intersection of multiple flows, networks and scales, the project strikes a balance between the monumental and the domestic. The attention paid to the materiality of burnt, pre-aged wood is also reflected in the careful layout of the apartments. All feature a private outdoor space, weaving a discreet and respectful link between inside and outside, nature and the city, private and public, and thus initiating a relationship between the emerging neighborhood and its inhabitants.

Constructed mainly of wood, with a concrete section for the central core and base, the building is part of a demanding environmental approach, aiming for NF Habitat HQE excellent level certification, the Paris climate and biodiversity plan, the BBCA standard label and the E3 C1 energy label.

The visit will be limited to 10 people.
